Origins
In 1832, Jean Dufilhot founded the estate on a relatively small property. Enlarged by Barthélémy Dufilhot (1811–1889), it owes much of its reputation to Jean Marcel Dufilhot (1872–1939), whose heirs currently manage the property. In 1974, Claude Chevrot began replanting the vines, joined in 2003 by his son Pierre. Jacques Dejean joined the team in 2008 as cellar master. Thanks to his knowledge and expertise, the winery has been awarded numerous prizes in Paris, Bordeaux, Macon, Blaye-Bourg, Lyon, Vinalies.
The Vineyard
Located on the right bank (rive droite) of the Garonne river, the vineyards are located within the Verdelais, Sainte Croix du Mont, Gabarnac and Cadillac communes. The red varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec are cultivated on 21 hectares of calcareous and argillaceous soil on sunny hillsides. Dufilhot also produces white wine (both dry and dessert wines) Sauvignon and Semillon.
